About one billion people "or one-sixth of the world's population" live in extreme poverty on less than $1 per day. Dr. Jeffrey Sachs "director of The Earth Institute and UN Millennium Project" has been involved in identifying the challenges to and solutions for poverty alleviation for more than 20 years.
