Very sad today to hear of the death at the age of 82 of the great Lita Roza - not only one of the finest female singers this country has ever produced but by all accounts a truly lovely, warm-hearted and kind lady. The two songs are "Let It Rain, Let It Rain" and "This Is My Town", both recorded in 1959. As a big fan called Elton John once said, "We just don't make singers like Lita Roza any more". RIP Miss Roza.

Fun song that took the top spot on 17th April 1953,but only stayed there for one week.Although this song established Lita in the public eye,she never sang it live in any of her concerts---she hated it!!! She was the first British female singer to top the UK charts and also the first of many Liverpudlians to do that! Sadly she died in August 2008 aged 82.
